Two Bulls players commit to college soccer programs

The club is proud to announce 2 of our older players have already committed to college soccer programs. We could not be prouder of them and we are so excited to see what the future holds for these two young men.

This upcoming fall, Zander Waller will pack his bags to Virginia and will join the Hornets family at Shenandoah University.

The Honolulu Bulls defender, who joined the club when he was 5 years old, will study sport management. “I am excited to start a new chapter of my life at Shenandoah university. I chose this school because of its strong sport management and Men’s Soccer team. I also chose this school to see a different part of the world, meet new people, and learn a whole new culture” said Zander.

Also on the east coast, Cole Ewalt will join the Raptors family at Bard College, in the state of New York.

Also a defender, Cole joined the Bulls about 2 years ago. He will study environmental science and will play college soccer in the Liberty League.

I chose Bulls two years ago with the intention of becoming a college player. I chose Bard College because it is a high-level D3 program, one which Bulls Soccer Club has readied me for” said Cole.

We look forward to seeing both of them on the field defending their new colors. Good luck and congratulations! In 2020, no less than 10 Honolulu Bulls players joined college programs: Aiden Spagnoli (Loyola Marymount University), Braden Uehara (Mount San Antonio College), Braden Nihei (Grinnel College), Luke Hamocon (George Fox University), Treyden Buder Nakasone (Chapman University), Tycen Santos (Whitworth University, Jacob Lee (Washington and Jefferson University), Dominic Gusman (Whitworth University), Cole Motooka (Santa Clara University), Jacob Moore (Lewis University).

MLS NEXT, THE NEW ELITE YOUTH SOCCER PLAYER PLATFORM LAUNCHED BY THE MLS

Honolulu Bulls’ strategic partner, Real Salt Lake Arizona, is one of the founding member clubs of the new MLS NEXT youth development program.

On September 8, 2020, the Major League Soccer (MLS) unveiled its new elite youth development platform in collaboration with the top elite youth academies around the country. We are proud to announce that our partner Real Salt Lake Arizona is a part of its 113 founding clubs across North America.

Real Salt Lake Arizona has been awarded every age group from U13 until U19 which will provide our players opportunities to play at the highest level in the country. If you are interested in learning more about MLS NEXT, you can click here.

The Honolulu Bulls and Real Salt Lake Arizona entered in a partnership in November 2019. Real Salt Lake Arizona has a network of clubs on the mainland that we are now a part of. The main goal of the partnership is to be able to provide opportunities to our members to play at a higher level for those players who deserve it. However, the partnership does not only consist in us sending players to Real Salt Lake. In fact, one of the benefits of this partnership is that when we participate in tournaments or events on the mainland, we can have access to players from their whole network. Similarly, if one member club needs a player, our players can participate in events with some of those member clubs as well.

On another note, our club philosophies are also very well aligned in terms of club structure, style of play and player development. Each team starting from the 9v9 age groups is following the curriculum put forward by Real Salt Lake Arizona. The purpose and benefit of having a uniform style of play across the club and our teams is crucial for the continuity and for the confidence of the players. We follow the schedule put forward by Real Salt Lake Arizona so that when players join them or vice versa, everyone will have gone through the same training topics.

We are very proud to be able to be a part of this network of like-minded clubs, and we strongly believe that with this partnership, and with the incredible expertise of Real Salt Lake Arizona, it will greatly benefit our players.

HONOLULU BULLS AND TRACE TEAMING UP

The Honolulu Bulls are very excited to announce that starting this year, they will be using the Trace technology during games.

Trace is a tool that uses a robot camera, GPS sensors and a powerful software to automatically film the game and create personalized moments for every player on the roster starting at the U14 age groups.

Even more so now, players looking to play at the next level in college are required to send video highlights of their games in order to get a roster spot. With Trace, this will feel seamless. Each player will be able to create individual clips of their best moments. Using the Trace technology will be a pilot for the 2020/2021 season and will be used by our 07, 04, 03 and 02 teams. Every player will be wearing a tracer during the game, and Trace will automatically record the game, cut the game into moments and organize individual clips for each player, who will be able to share them with friends, family and coaches.

Trace also provides each player different performance metrics such as distance, top speed, minutes played, max effort and stamina. Moreover, this technology will be beneficial for coaches, as they will be able to review the games and adapt their game plans or practices depending on what they see during the game. Here is a quick overview of the Trace technology:
